WebDec 15, 2013 · It will tell you if the car is on the DVLA data base and when it was last taxed or SORN'd. It will also tell you if the vehicle has been scrapped or exported. If it all checks out OK then I would just send the old V5 off. It may take longer to come back if the DVLA feel the need to contact the previous owner.
