Some days I do not understand Marshall...even though I love em! lol Click to expand... Well as you know now, it was Marshall who pioneered the PPIMV... But it still won't sound as good as output tube distortion.

That way you can get the best blend of preamp distortion with power tube distortion. I've run all the NMV Marshalls I've ever owned this way, and the Vintage Modern has basically the same arrangement.
Web10 Apr 2008 · The master in 800's comes before the phase inverter, it can get a little thin and buzzy at low volumes and you also lose the gain from the phase inverter when its turned down, its quite alot of gain. the ppimv, with its shielded wires will keep the signal clean and retain all the phase inverter gain of a cranked amp.
